Brigadier Staff Dr Omar Al Ghazal, Director General of the General Department of Operations and Security Support, stated that the initiative represents Sharjah Police's dedication to improving cooperation with government and private partners. This year's plan includes speedier inspection and licensing procedures, as well as an extension of inspection validity from 30 to 60 days, allowing operators more time to complete requirements before schools reopen.
Dr Al Ghazal also emphasised the readiness of mobile inspection teams, which are outfitted with specialised staff and advanced technical equipment to conduct inspections at bus stops. This endeavour is part of Sharjah Police's complete plan to begin the school year, which includes awareness programmes and increased traffic presence.
Strategic partners attended the launch, including Khalid Ahmed Al Khayal, Director of Intercity Transport at the Roads and Transport Authority; Eng. Fahad Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, CEO of KGL Passenger Transport Services; and Hossam Salem Al Shawy, General Manager of Tasjeel - ENOC. They underlined the initiative's significance in promoting sustainable school travel and increasing community trust in Sharjah's traffic safety system.
Colonel Mohammed Al Mahrazi, Director of the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department, acknowledged that field visits were carried out in conjunction with the Security Media Department and the Sharjah Private Education Authority. These visits included inspecting safety systems for school buses, conducting on-site inspections, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and speaking directly with supervisors and drivers to enhance understanding of their roles in protecting students.
Colonel Abdulrahman Khater, Deputy Director of the Security Media Department, emphasised the need for continued monitoring in Sharjah's school transport sector for student safety and parental peace of mind. He noted that the "Safety is our first lesson" campaign exemplifies Sharjah Police's proactive approach, which includes awareness, monitoring, and collaboration with partners. He thanked officials, parents, and children for their support and wished everyone a safe and successful school year.
