The campaign's target is to increase people's awareness of the necessity of leading a healthy lifestyle and to provide them with tools and resources that help them regulate their blood sugar levels and live in harmony with society by engaging in regular physical activity and eating nutritious foods.
The campaign includes diabetes patient and public education lectures and health exhibitions on Friday and Saturday this August at the Child Centre in Al Dhaid, the Mega Mall Sharjah and a number of cooperative societies in collaboration with a group of healthcare experts in the Health Education Department.
"The campaign is one of the most important annual events organised by the Society with the aim of educating the public in general about diabetes, its causes and symptoms, how to limit its spread, and ways for patients to manage their illness," said Ruqayya Ahmad, Head of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department in the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, on behalf of the Society's President, Khawla Al-Hajj.
For their continued support, Ruqayya Ahmad praised the Department of Health Education as well as the campaign participants for their assistance in launching the campaign and implementing awareness programmes. All the hospitals and clinics involved were recognized, and Sharjah Media Corporation received special recognition.
