Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has installed 6,944 smart metres and replaced 7,858 mechanical metres with smart ones, during the first half of 2022, in various regions of the emirate. The move contributes to providing accurate, error-free readings, rationalising energy consumption, and saving time and effort.
Dr. Eng. Hassan Al Zarouni, Director of SEWA’s  Electricity Distribution Department, confirmed that the authority continues to implement development projects, use the latest devices and applications, and use smart metres in different areas of the Emirate of Sharjah, be they residential, commercial or industrial, within the authority’s plan to convert all metres in the emirate into smart ones.

Al Zarouni added that smart metres are of mutual benefit for both the authority and subscribers, as they have the ability to follow up on consumption 24 hours a day.
