Sharjah 24: Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority (SDAA) presented a reading in the book the "History of Yarubid in Oman" by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The lecturer, Dr. Hamad bin Sarai, addressed, during the lecture, several main themes while addressing the facts mentioned in the book that was rich in historical information about the transformations and essential stages of the establishment of the Yarubid Dynasty.
The lecture began with the words of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, "This book talks about a people who rose in conditions, in which the Portuguese controlled all the Omani seas and ports, and people were able to fight a country that was stronger and richer in the region". The lecturer explained that the material of this book was extracted by His Highness from the manuscripts and documents that he acquired over forty years to write the history of the Arab Gulf region and its surroundings, including contemporary documents, Portuguese reports, and reports written by representatives of governments and companies that visited Oman from 1623 to 1747.
The reading tackled several basic aspects of the book, namely: the position of the Yarubid in the history of the Arabian Gulf, the reasons that led to the emergence of the Yarubid dynasty, their jihad against the Portuguese, the difficult political conditions that Oman experienced before 1624, and the emergence of the Yarubid dynasty, in which Oman saw a new era of wisdom and integrity.
