Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority (SDAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, at the Centre of Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
His Excellency Salah Salim Ali Al Mahmoud, Director General of the SDAA, and Dr. Mostafa El Feki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, signed the MoU.

The signing of the memorandum comes in fulfilment of the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on the necessity of strengthening relations between the Emirate of Sharjah and various Arab, regional and international institutions. Such efforts fall in the areas of cultural and scientific cooperation and documentation, in a way that contributes to the advancement of work and the development of experience.

The MoU aims to achieve the two sides' common vision to enhance cooperation in the field of archiving and digital documentation, and to provide specialised programmes related to preserving, organising and restoring documents and manuscripts. In addition to exchanging experiences on document science and scripts, programmes for preserving and restoring documents, and qualifying employees working in the field of documentation and archiving.

According to the memorandum, the two sides will exchange all books, studies and research issued by them, with the aim of enriching the content on both sides. Other than developing scientific research projects in the joint scientific and historical fields of expertise in the field of history and documentation.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides exchanged gifts from the publications of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the latest publications of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and the publications of the SDAA.
