Sharjah 24: To commemorate World Poetry Day, Poetry Houses will organise a range of cultural events.
According to Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Culture (SDC), "assigning cultural activities by poetry houses in commemoration of World Poetry Day emphasises the importance of poetry as the (historical) canon of Arabs and a vital tributary to Arab cultural growth."
Poetry is an outgrowth of Sharjah's cultural mission, which aims to promote cultural movement, and it is a civilised discourse that emits a creative energy with an aesthetic meaning rich in imagery and literary metaphor.
On the 22nd of this month, Sharjah's House of Poetry will host a poetry event in celebration of International Poetry Day, with poets from the UAE, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Jordan.
