Department of Culture honours 7 authors for their publications

Sharjah24: The Department of Culture in Sharjah honoured 7 male and female authors of their publications for the year 2021, in an honoring ceremony held at the department’s headquarters on Wednesday, in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Al Owais, Head of the Department, Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, and a number of the Department’s employees and authors of publications.
The list of honorees included Dr. Amina Bin Hammad for her short story collection (I became stronger), Salha Ghabesh for her book (A Place Under the Sun - In Love with the Reading City) Visions, Osama Sheikh Idris for his novel (The River Knows More), and Prince Kamal Farag for his critical study (Egyptian Alienation - a critical approach ), friendship. Adel Neal for his critical study (Literature of the Pencil Image), Ali Mai for his poetry collection (Nahar Al-Ghazaleh) (winner of the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity - First Edition - Session 24), and Majdi Muhammad Al-Amin for his poetry collection (And for love, other details).

His Excellency Abdullah Al Owais welcomed the attendees, pointing out that the Department of Culture aims to translate the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, of the importance of the publishing role in promoting Arab culture and supporting Arab writers.

Al Owais pointed out that the year 2021 witnessed the publication of more than 100 authors between multiple titles in poetry, novels, short stories, criticism, theater, children’s literature, and other diverse and vital literary fields, praising the role of authors in supplying the Arab library with many literary and intellectual publications.

The honorees expressed their happiness with the publications, and they valued the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for writers, and Sharjah’s harnessing of all possibilities to make the book a top priority, as it raised the value of culture in its vital and active role in the Arab and global cultural arena.
