Sharjah 24: Her old age did not deter her from volunteering, but rather made her more insisting to give saying “What will Man take when they leave this mortal world, but good deeds”. The 82-year-old mother, Fatima Ali Ibrahim, is a living model for humanitarian work, and a model for Emirati women from the older generation. She lived through difficulties, but added to the progress and civilization of the UAE. She is the daughter of Sharjah. She married, gave birth and stood by her husband. She was a guardian of her children.
Fatima, who is by the way the oldest volunteer, and a member of the Elderly Services Centre of the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, tells that she worked in several schools, one of which is Al Andalus School, and everyone loved her because she loved them in turn. She remembers that the school principal was Sheikha Aisha bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, who asked her why she doesn’t memorise the Quran, and she answered that because she works and has no time, so Sheikha Aisha bint Muhammad Al Qasimi offered that her driver will take her to the Quran lesson and take her home afterwards.

Fatima had a beautiful relationship with everyone and everyone loved and respected her.

Fatima continued saying that after her children grew up, some of whom got married, she joined Al Asala Club, which is affiliated with the Elderly Services Centre, which organises events, workshops and trips for senior citizens.  She joined the Sharjah Volunteer Centre in 2017, and volunteered in the field of education and traditional handicrafts.

Fatima also volunteered with teams, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, whereas she was distributing food to passers-by, working class and drivers during the time of Iftar and Suhoor as well.

Fatima said that she will continue her volunteer work until the last minute of her life, in order to earn the reward, for good deeds, he added that everyone is poor and God is the Rich.

Fatima, currently, spends most of the time at home, due to the Corona pandemic, and participates in  Al Asala Club trips organised virtually or physically, where she is very happy when she meets her friends in these gatherings.
