Sharjah 24: The activities of the Fifth Remote International Arabic Language Conference, organised by the Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States (ALECGS), concluded Monday. The conference ran over a period of eight continuous days under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in cooperation with The Ministry of Education.
The Fifth Remote International Arabic Language Conference, entitled "Teaching and Learning Arabic, Looking toward the Future: "Requirements, Opportunities, and Challenges" included 24 scientific seminars, and 3 seminars on best practices and experiences with the participation of 128 experts and researchers, a total of 111 research and studies, all specialised in teaching and learning the Arabic language. The number of the conference participants on the centre's portal has exceeded 70 thousand participants from different countries.
At the end of the conference, His Excellency Dr. Issa Al Hammadi, Director of ALECGS, read the recommendations of the conference, which focused on the Arabic language curricula, the preparing the Arabic language teacher (teaching and learning strategies), techniques for teaching and learning Arabic.
The recommendations of the conference included a call for the need to update and develop Arabic language curricula, to keep pace with technological innovations and the digital age; to review textbooks in light of the requirements for building digital content; the challenges of the Corona pandemic and its variables; the developments of e-learning, distance education, programmed education, and self-learning; the need for concerted efforts; participation of experts and specialists in preparing content from the Arabic Linguistic academies, Arabic curricula and teaching methods.
