Sharjah24: The activities of the Fifth Remote International Arabic Language Conference entitled: "Teaching and Learning Arabic, Looking Toward the Future: " Requirements, Opportunities, and Challenges" have been launched, with the organisation of Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah.
The launching of the activities comes in line with the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, being held from 22 - 30 January 2022.

Being attended by a number of intellectual figures and dignitaries, the activities of the conference highlighted the significance of teaching and learning the Arabic language at the regional and global levels, reviewing the latest academic and applied studies and research, ideas and visions on enhancing the development of the Arabic language teaching and learning, reviewing the challenges facing the Arabic language, and presenting proposals and solutions in this regard, with benefiting from exchanging experiences with other educational institutions in the Arab world, contributing in developing Arabic language teaching and learning.

During the conference, lasting for 8 consecutive days, includes 24 scientific symposiums and 3 symposia for best practices and experiences with the participation of 128 experts and researchers, with a total of 111 research and studies, all of them specialised in teaching and learning the Arabic language. The number of those registered in the conference link through the center's portal has exceeded (70,000) from different countries.

His Excellency Dr. Issa Al Hammadi, Chairman of Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States stressed the importance of the conference in encouraging creativity and innovators, proposing solutions to the problems facing teaching and learning the Arabic language, and reviewing new visions for dealing with it, through scientific and applied fields in educational institutions. He also underscored several other topics that promote the preservation of the Arabic language, emphasising that the Arabic language needs a huge institutional work and combined efforts of the entire community. 

His Excellency concluded his statement by extending thanks to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, lauding his continuous support for the Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States in particular, and the Arabic language in general.

He also extend sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Education and His Excellency Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, for the continuous support of the Center. He also thanked His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Assimi, Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), for honouring him by attending and opening the conference. He also thanked all the partners and members working in the conference committees, and to the specialists participating remotely in the conference, as well as to all those who attended the conference.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Assimi delivered also a speech, shedding light on the significance importance of the Arabic langusge, stressing that it represents the identity of the community. He also added that the language is a tool of thought, and means of rapprochement and dialogue between members of society.

The opening also included a visual presentation, prepared by the Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah, in which it reviewed its most important achievements during this year in the field of training, conferences, seminars, scientific publications, and programs. 

The participants in the opening session of the conference were also honoured.
