Sharjah 24: The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah launched an initiative of afforestation campaign in Al Muntather 2 in Al Bataeh area, in cooperation with Al Bataeh Municipality, Al Bataeh Municipal Council, Sharjah Police, Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and Bee’ah Company.
The campaign targeted the employees of the EPAA in all its branches, employees of government and private institutions, in addition to the volunteers of the volunteer platform of the SSSD. The event witnessed the participation of 250 individuals, during which 200 seedlings were planted.
Her Excellency Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah, said: "We are continuing the afforestation campaigns in Al Muntather Reserve, in cooperation with our strategic partners, in accordance with the agenda and strategy of the EPAA emanating from the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which focuses on the importance and necessity of protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity, promoting environmental sustainability and raising community awareness.”
Her Excellency continued: "All thanks and appreciation to the EPAA’s teams who are making outstanding efforts, and thanks to our partners, whose success and achievement can only be completed with them and their vital role in promoting and consolidating the environmental culture in the hearts of the people of the country and raising their awareness of the importance of the protection and sustainability of the environment."
The afforestation programme of Al Muntathar Reserve mainly aims to continue the efforts started by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in afforestation campaigns, to achieving a set of goals, foremost of which is contributing to the preservation of the environments of wild areas, and the affirmation of social responsibility in preserving the environments of wild areas and their biodiversity.
