Sharjah 24 – WAM: During a discussion session sponsored by the university in the Fazaa Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), presented the proposed strategy for research and innovation.
The Chancellor began his remarks by underlining the university's founding purpose, which has remained unchanged since its inception. "The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan aspired to establish a national academic institution that offers programmes and specializations that meet the aspirations of all those seeking higher education," he stated. Using modern curricula and the most up-to-date pedagogical approaches, the 'university of the future' provides an education that keeps up with rapid societal development.

UAEU is a hub of cultural and intellectual leadership in the country, the region, and throughout the world. Its alumni are trained to international standards, satisfy the needs of employers, and go on to serve as leaders in the public and private sectors, demonstrating creativity and innovation." Nusseibeh emphasized the critical role of education in achieving long-term, comprehensive national development and praised the government for clarifying its vision in this regard. ", he explained "The best investment a country can make is in its citizens.

The UAE's education initiatives are laying solid foundations for the country's aspirations for the next fifty years. As it works toward its goal of serving the future needs of leadership, business, and society, the UAEU keeps these goals in mind." "Our research programmes advance with the latest scientific technologies and foster innovation in Space," the Chancellor said. Our graduates are highly qualified, possessing exceptional technical and professional skills."

The UAEU's Research and Innovation Strategy 2023-2026, according to Dr Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Provost for Research, will help the university maintain its status as a research-intensive institution with international standards and global foundations. It's also in line with the UAE's Centennial Strategy 2071. It is based on the National Innovation Strategy of 2015, the National Strategy for Advanced Innovation of 2018, Abu Dhabi's 2020 goals, and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Dr Murad mentioned that 68 percent of the university's research projects involve international partnerships with other universities and scientific institutions during his presentation of the university's current achievements with patents, research outputs, and receipt of internal and external research grants.
