SAVW launches "Volunteer for the Emirates"

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) announced the launch of the first edition of the "Volunteer for the Emirates" competition, which aims to attract governmental and non-governmental institutions, departments and bodies, and individuals, families and volunteers; to contribute to the implementation of the best volunteer initiative during the month of December 2021, in conjunction with the International Volunteer Day, which falls on December 5.
Deadline for the submission of the application forms is December 4, 2021. The participation file must be submitted on January 6, 2022, and the winners to be honoured will be announced during the months of January and February 2022.

Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary General of SAVW, said that the first edition of the competition seeks to encourage government and civil agencies, the private sector, individuals, families and volunteers, to participate in the implementation of constructive initiatives that contribute to enhancing community and human development, in translation of the efforts and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, supporting Sharjah initiatives, and humanitarian and voluntary pioneering projects.

Fatima Musa Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Award stated that the competition for the best voluntary initiative during the month of December targets institutions, individuals, families and volunteers, noting that the conditions set by the Board of Trustees of the award stipulate that initiatives must be at the level of the United Arab Emirates, and that the implemented volunteer work must be free of charge, provided that the initiative is implemented during the month of December, in addition the initiative must be licensed and authorised by the official and concerned authorities.

Fatima Musa Al Balushi added that the competition stipulates that the initiative serves one or more areas of volunteer work that include one of the environmental or educational aspects, social solidarity, health, religion, national values, culture and heritage, protecting the weak or helping those affected by disasters and crises.
