According to Sharjah's guidelines, the department’s strategic plan includes supporting and improving services for older persons while also ensuring their comfort and well-being. The forum's theme for this year is “Seniors in a Digital Society”.
“It represents our wise leadership's directions”, Al Marri remarked in her speech, “as our wise leadership pays great attention to senior citizens, working to build a pleasant and supportive atmosphere for them and surround them with all respect, care and attention. The forum is a reflection of all that.”
Al Marri went on to say that, “the event, which comes on the International Day of Older Individuals on October 1st, has become a watershed event in the Emirate of Sharjah's agenda.”
She believes that the theme of the forum's tenth edition, "Seniors in a Digital Society," represents an important tributary to the development in the care, protection, and sustainable development fields of the great progress made in digital services.
The forum covered a wide range of topics, including digitally empowering senior citizens, the future of digital services for seniors, developments and challenges, moving away from stereotypical perspectives toward empowerment and independence, and how smart technology is establishing a new social system.
