Sharjah24: As the guest of the programme "Aman Ya Beladi", Major Sultan Muhammad bin Talia, Head of the Organised Crimes Department at the Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police, reviewed a number of topics related to electronic fraud crimes and the cybercrimes that have spread recently, noting a number of ways in which fraudsters are mastering a wide segment of society with modern technical methods and means that facilitate their criminal work, including short text messages and telephone calls.
This came during the "Aman Ya Beladi" programme, which is prepared and presented by the Department of Media and Public Relations of the Sharjah Police General Command, and broadcast live on Sharjah Radio.

Sultan Muhammad bin Talia said that within the framework of the Sharjah Police General Command's strategy, which is consistent with the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Interior aimed at enhancing security and safety, the Sharjah Police General Command has been keen to make intensive efforts to adopt an organised approach and more accurate procedures to address these digital crimes in the emirate, stressing that the awareness and culture of society of fraud contributes to the society's protection of their property against theft and fraud. He noted a number of risks arising from electronic fraud.

In another context, Mr. Hassan Al-Balgouni, Director of Corporate Communications Department at Sharjah Islamic Bank, spoke over the phone, and revealed the joint cooperation between the Central Bank of the Emirates and banking institutions in the country on all social platforms and their keenness to launch several awareness campaigns on the types and methods of cybercrime to help the community members avoid becoming victims of fraud scams.

He noted that the campaign launched by the Sharjah Police General Command in cooperation with Sharjah Islamic Bank, which aims to educate community members about the phenomenon of electronic banking fraud and how to confront it and reduce the damage caused by it to bank customers in the country.

In another context, over the phone, Lt. Col. Jassim Al Suwaidi, Head of the Community Police Department at Sharjah Police, spoke about the integrated role played by the Community Police Department in cooperation with the strategic partners (Sharjah Charity International and the Emirates Red Crescent) from various humanitarian and social aspects. Lt. Col. Al-Suwaidi stressed the keenness of the Sharjah Police to enhance means of communication and continuous support for the various segments of society, including its citizens and residents.
