Sharjah24: Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, indicated on Sharjah Radio's "Aman Ya Beladi" programme on Sunday morning that the positive fall in civil defence indicators in the last five year, whether at the level of accidents, deaths, injuries, or the reduction in reaction time, has come as a result of the initiatives that the Civil Defence has implemented, in addition to educating the community about the most potential risks that individuals may encounter. He also emphasized the civil defence’s commitment to the Ministry of Interior's strategic direction which aims to make the UAE attain the highest world standards in terms of security and safety.
According to Al-Naqbi, the Civil Defence prepares its personnel through annual periodic exercises conducted in collaboration with partners, and proactive operations, such as periodic and infrequent inspections of all buildings to ensure the efficiency of firefighting systems, alarms, and smoke control devices, as well as the validity of fire escapes. Abdullah Al-Majidi, Deputy Director of the Standards and Conformity Department at the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, spoke about the Authority's "Aman" system, which is a complementary communication system for fire devices in residential and commercial facilities that sends messages from the facility to the Civil Defence operations room, ensuring a quick response in cases of fire. The system reflects the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority's efforts to reach a fire-free society through awareness campaigns.
