2730 ZU’s students get labour market practical training

Sharjah24: 2,730 Zayed University (ZU) alumni and students have recently joined the 1st edition of the ZU ‘ZU Summer Career Camp 50x50’ which focuses on students’ capacity building, development of professional skills and preparing the youth for the requirements of the job market.
The four week initiative was initially launched by ZU’s  Student Careers & Alumni Department during the summer break of 2021  under the slogan "Make a Difference This Summer," through 50 opportunities for professional development in celebration of the UAE’s 50th national day anniversary.

Rashed Al Shamsi, Acting Director Student Careers and Alumni Department, said: “We thank the government and the private sector organizations for offering multiple job training opportunities and workshops to our students and alumni. Practical skills are key to entering the labour market, as it requires experience above all.”

Shamma Al-Rumaithi, one of the students who attended the virtual session in cooperation with the Al Ghurair Educational Foundation under the title “The Importance of the Private Sector,” said: “My attendance at the virtual session broadened my understanding of the changes that occur in the labour market and the importance of constantly developing my skills and experiences before graduation.”
  
The initiative offered several professional development opportunities for the participants in cooperation with more than 30 partners from the government and the private sector. The opportunities offered varied between part-time jobs, practical training and volunteering, in addition to a number of training programs specialized in skills development.

Among the most prominent parties that participated were the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, the General Civil Aviation Authority, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Dar Al Takaful Company, General Motors, the Abu Dhabi Media Zone Authority, PepsiCo, the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology.
