Sharjah 24: Sharjah Volunteer Centre of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) launched a new service entitled the "Volunteer Initiative", one of many services to be added to the Centre's online volunteering services.
The new service targets civil and private organisations and institutions launching the initiative.

Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Department of Community Cohesion in SSSD, confirmed that the launch of the new service "Volunteer Initiative" is a response to the results of the proposals submitted to the Centre, and to the requests of individual applicants and institutional partners.

Al Hammadi explained that the "Volunteer Initiative" must be presented by an entity or institution, provided that it is implemented by employees within a voluntary team formed by the same entity, unlike the "voluntary opportunities" where all volunteers from or outside the institutions can participate.

Al Hammadi added that the Sharjah Volunteer Centre, in cooperation with partners, seeks to promote the role of volunteering professionally, especially that the United Arab Emirates is one of the leading countries in volunteer and humanitarian work.

Al Hammadi concluded that Sharjah Volunteer Centre contributes to organising volunteer work in the emirate, and spreading its culture among society members and its institutions, which is one of the most important pillars of social cohesion.  She called on those wishing to volunteer or those wishing to launch a voluntary initiative, to register via the Sharjah Volunteer Centre electronic platform.
