A rare piece that preserves the Qur'an for 1100 years

Sharjah24: "Sharjah 24" explores the treasures of the House of Islamic Manuscripts at Al Qasimia University, which were gifted by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to the House, and their number exceeds 1,500 manuscripts. In 11 episodes, shown on Mondays and Thursdays of every week.
A rare piece of “Deer skin” in the world inscribed with Quranic verses in Kufic script, within a group of original Qur’ans presented by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah; of the House of Manuscripts, as explained by Said ElMaadawy, Director of the House.

ElMaadawy explained to "Sharjah 24" that the importance of this piece lies in its writing in the Kufic script that developed after the Hijazi script, in which the Uthman Qur'ans were written, pointing out that manuscript scholars estimated the date of writing this Qur'an in the second or third century AH, and it is very rare from where it was presented, the type of font, and the skin on which it was written.

ElMaadawy pointed out that this piece is of great importance to indicate the development of Arabic calligraphy and the development of writing the Holy Qur’an since the era of our master Uthman, where manuscripts written by hand and by skilled scribes who mastered the writing of Arabic calligraphy of its various types.
