Sharjah Youth hones entrepreneurship skills of its members

Sharjah24: “Sharjah Youth” which is a part of “Rubu’ Qarn” Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, have launched “Let’s Summer” virtual camp from July 4 until July 15, and from August 1 until August 11, 2021, under the tagline “a summer experience to refresh your skills”.
Multiple workshops and programs were conducted during the first days of the camp to invest the free time of Sharjah Youth participants and young generations between the age of 13 to 18 years old during the summer vacation and to help them gain new skills in diverse fields plus qualifying them to lead the future. 

The first Summer Camp virtual program was entitled as “business”, which was in collaboration with Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center “Sheraa” and was delivered by trainer Sali Elagab, Senior Programs Associate.

Participants have learned the necessary skills in the field of entrepreneurship such as how to think like an entrepreneur, understanding the terms innovation and creativity and the differences amongst them, formulating and finding innovative ideas for business setup and the skills to turn these businesses into promising investments. 

Participants have also gained insights about the main traits an entrepreneur should have which is determination toward success, refusing failure, not quitting and thriving toward uniqueness and excellence. The famous Emirati media announcer, entrepreneur, tourist and cultural guide Ali Al Saloom have also talked about his inspiring success story during the program. 

Participants were trained to use creativity in solving problems and overcoming the challenges facing entrepreneurs. They have also learned about the steps of establishing pioneering projects, identifying the target group for these projects and marketing skills to promote the project through various media channels, as well as learning about presentation and pitching skills, communication and the future of entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, the artist Yola Hanna presented a workshop entitled “Lino Printing“ in cooperation with Medaf Studio, through which the participants learned the basics of Linocuts using carving and pasting techniques on Lino sheets. Also, they learned how to safely use Lino sculpting tools to produce artistic print designs that carry aesthetic value in a safe way.

In the “Create a DIY Light Box” workshop, which was held in cooperation with Aisha Al-Abbar Gallery and presented by artist Manali Sutaria, the participants learned how to install and assemble an interior-lighted box containing pre-cut paper plates for the most prominent tourist attractions in the United Arab Emirates. 

The workshop has inspired Sharjah Youth participants to learn creative techniques to create creative art pieces inspired by their country. They can gift the art pieces as a souvenir to their friends from other countries, in addition to it being a great opportunity for young people to acquire various technical and artistic skills.

In “Boho Canvas Bag and Calligraphy Embroidery” workshop, which was held in cooperation with Bwader Art Studio and presented by the artist Bwader Bashir, Sharjah Youth participants learned how to design and draw on canvas fabric to create exquisite canvas bag designs inspired by the Bohemian style that showcases the beauty of nature, landscapes, plants and embodies the values of peace, tolerance and love of nature. 

Let’s Summer Camp aims to invest in Sharjah Youth participant’s free time during the summer vacation period and turn it into a useful fun experience where they can learn new beneficial and fruitful skills and an opportunity to discover the talented young individuals to involve them in diverse programs that help them further develop their knowledge, skills, enhance their abilities in uniqueness, excellence and encourage creativity in science, culture and art fields. In addition to developing life skills that supports participants self-development.

Sharjah Youth, affiliated with the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, it's an organisation that focuses on creativity, innovation, early detection of the talents of young people aged 13 to 18 years.
