Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Youth (SY), affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators announced the details of the writing competition for young theatre, which targets talented and creative theatre writers aged 10 to 35 years. The competition is part of SY’s keenness to allow them to participate with their creativity in theatrical texts and discuss their interests.
The competition aims to motivate writers to write and complete through theatrical scripts that express the needs of youth and are in line with their present and keep pace with their aspirations and dreams for the future, to choose five texts from the competition, and present them in performances embodying their characters on stage, by members of theatre groups in Sharjah Youth centers from ages 13 to 18 years.
Sharjah Youth has identified a set of conditions that must be met in the texts submitted for participation. It is required that the text be new and written in classical Arabic according to the elements of dramatic writing in a document in the form of "Word" within 3000 words. Moreover, the theatre script has not previously been presented on stage or participated in Similar competitions, and that the participant owns the intellectual rights to the submitted text.
It requires that the script's subject expresses the concerns and aspirations of the youth category, and the heroes are within the same category between the ages of 13 to 18 years. According to a written declaration from the participant, the Sharjah Youth reserves the right to print the winning texts and present them on stage for three years.
Sharjah Youth allocated prizes of up to 31,000 dirhams for the winners of the first three places, consisting of 10,000 dirhams for the first prize, 8,000 dirhams for the second prize, and 6,000 dirhams for the third prize, in addition to incentive prizes of 4,000 dirhams for the fourth prize, and 3,000 dirhams for the fifth prize.
Sharjah Youth provides the opportunity to participate in the competition from UAE citizens and residents aged 10 to 35, until October 30, 2021, via the website www.shjyouth.ae, by filling out the participation form and attaching the text according to the specified conditions. In addition, a photo of the UAE identity from both sides. Finally, the pledge and waiver to be signed by the participant with his CV attached.
