Maryam Al Mazmi, Director of the Institutional Communication Centre in the department, said: "Umran's character is a creative and an innovative personality, that heralds an unprecedented initiative, explaining that "Umran" came to serve as the department's spokesperson to promote its services through its various communication channels, where the character will facilitate the department’s many traditional procedures in translating its ideas and communicating its instructions to all age groups and cultural levels.
Al Mazmi indicated that the name "Umran" had been chosen in relation to the department's specialisation and its role in the urban field in the Emirate, noting that the character is characterised by an absolute comprehensiveness of all the needs of the public dealing with the department and a vision that reflects the nature of this innovative’s name and the unique privacy of the Emirate, with a vision, message and several goals adopted by the department so that the name of the character is integrally linked to its specialisation, not to mention the easy pronunciation of the word by all citizens and residents.
The character attracts a large number of children, students and the public, and it is an ideal and endearing one that provides counsel and guidance to both adults and children to spread engineering information and benefit.
In addition to the character, the first issue of the quarterly magazine “Umran” was launched, which is a specialised periodical magazine concerned with the engineering field.
