Sharjah 24: In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, the Sharjah Friends for Diabetes Association (SFDA), one of the health-promoting organisations under the Health Promotion Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, held 48 virtual training workshops for school students and nurses participating in the "Super Hero" programme, the association's annual initiative aims at preventing diabetes.
The training workshops, which took place from March 23 to May 17 and were overseen by Khawla Al Hajj, Head of Friends for Diabetes Association, and a number of the Society's employees and volunteers, included instructing coordinators and nurses on how to treat high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia) and low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) in children, as well as how to use Glucometers and other diabetes-related equipment. In addition to offering instructions and guidance to students with diabetes on how to live with the condition and others on how to avoid it. The workshops also discussed issues related to children with diabetes' rights to live a normal life alongside their classmates.
