Sharjah 24: Mohammed Saleh Al Suwaiji, Director of the Eastern Region Management at the Sharjah Department of Culture, announced the start of supplying literary councils in Khorfakkan and Kalba with new service facilities and libraries that enhance the cultural role desired for the councils.
The Eastern Region Management of the Sharjah Department of Culture works to employ the role of literary councils in the cities of Khorfakkan and Kalba in promoting cultural mobility in the region and spreading knowledge among all segments of society.
Mohammed Saleh Al Suwaiji, Director of the Eastern Region Management, stated that despite the stalemate caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, the literary councils in the Eastern Region has hosted, during the first half of 2021, 4 different dialogue sessions with the participation of elite historians and researchers in several fields.
Al Suwaiji indicated that, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, work is currently underway to provide the councils with more service facilities, including new libraries according to advanced standards and a greater capacity, parallel to the aspirations for a major role that the councils play in disseminating knowledge and to promote a culture of reading.
Al Suwaiji added that the department has finished preparing its programmatic plan for the second half of this year and 2022, which includes many cultural, literary, and artistic activities in various cities of the Eastern Region, expressing wishes for them to see the light in the near future.
