Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, has recently organised the first public food and conduct counselling session via visual communication platform, as part of its “Healthy lifestyle” awareness programme aiming to offer free advice and directions on adopting healthy lifestyle and correct nutrition concepts based on the reports of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHaP).
The session, which was presented by a group of doctors and specialists, and saw the participation of more than 80 people from inside and outside the country, provided information about the most important steps to be taken to ensure the adoption of a healthy diet and its role in strengthening the immune system, in addition to responding to the questions and inquiries of the participants, within the framework of HPD’s keenness to disseminate educational and awareness-raising information and reaching a wide range of community members to benefit from its programmes.

Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the HPD, affirmed that organising the session comes out of the HPD’s keenness to enhance communication channels with the community to guide them and provide advice that helps them follow healthy lifestyles and ensures their protection from various infectious diseases, as well as improving their health-related habits, by providing information and appropriate awareness-raising examinations and consultations.

The "healthy lifestyle" programme, which is held throughout the current year, in addition to providing a virtual consulting service, is witnessing the launch of the healthy shopping initiative, which aims to motivate and enable community members to stimulate healthy food patterns and make sound choices while shopping, to spread the culture of healthy food shopping and reading the product label to benefit from the values available in healthy food.
