Sharjah24: The Friends of Kidney Patients Association (FOKPA), a health support association at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, launched the “My Health in Ramadan” campaign under the slogan “My health between knowledge and responsibility.” The association focuses on spreading awareness about the quality of proper nutrition for fasting people, in addition to supporting kidney patients and providing advice that ensures healthy fasting.
The campaign will witness many charitable and awareness-raising events and initiatives, where the association will distribute iftar meals in a tent Al Nukhailat area, view awareness videos, distribute educational publications on social networking sites of the association, in addition to hold a virtual educational workshop in cooperation with Tawam Hospital and awareness videos on kidney diseases and ways of prevention and cures.

Maryam Khalfan bin Dikheen, President of FOKPA, stated that the launch of the campaign is to educate fasting people about healthy and nutritional habits to stay healthy in Ramadan, in addition to strengthening communication with the public to introduce them to the association, its objectives and goals.

She pointed out that the association, under the generous patronage of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, is keen to launch initiatives and programmes  promoting health awareness for community members and improving the physical and psychological health of kidney patients.

Bin Dikheen added that kidney patients must follow certain health habits that guarantee them a healthy fasting such as not getting exposed to high temperatures during fasting, avoiding salty foods, eating less sweets and desserts while making sure to eat low-fat foods.
