Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah launched, Thursday, an awareness campaign, as part of its celebrations of World Health Day, the World Health Organisation launched under the slogan "Our planet, our health”.
The campaign aims to raise the awareness of community members on the importance of preserving the environment to protect public health and ensure disease prevention, as well as shedding light on practices that ensure environmental sustainability.

The campaign included the broadcast of an educational video that includes facts about the environment and its relationship to health, the launch of a series of films on health and the environment centered on children's health and nutrition, in addition to the distribution of 200 seedlings in the Islamic Garden. The campaign also included organising a virtual session on sustainability, in addition to talking about the strategies of the UAE in general, and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular, towards a sustainable future.

Eman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department confirmed that the launch of this campaign, which comes in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation, represents an actual translation of the administration's directions and its continuous endeavour to raise societal awareness about health issues and enhancement of healthy behaviours, thus  strengthening the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a regional and international model in terms of providing a healthy environment and promoting community health awareness.

HPD’s most important achievements in 2021 were reviewed during the campaign.
