The award said the decree reflects the Sharjah Ruler's continued commitment to advancing volunteer work in Sharjah and reinforcing its contribution to community service, describing the board as a vote of confidence in the award's role within the Emirate's volunteering ecosystem.
The Board of Trustees is chaired by Al Shamsi, with Fatima Mousa Abdulrahman Al Blooshi serving as Secretary-General. Its members are Dr Musabah Saeed Belajid Al Ketbi, Dr Saeed Sultan bin Dalmook, Humaid Ali Al Abbar Al Shamsi, Sultan Mohammed Abdullah Al Khayal, Ahmed Khalfan Al Fandi Al Shamsi, and Maryam Saeed Obaid Al Mheiri.
Al Shamsi emphasised that the Sharjah Ruler's decree highlights the award's ongoing support and Sharjah's commitment to enhancing its volunteering ecosystem.
She said the trust placed in the board carries a responsibility to build on what the award has already achieved in spreading a culture of volunteering and recognising the efforts of volunteers and initiative-holders. She highlighted the award's impact with 46 winners, 448,987 volunteer hours from 4,628 volunteers across 48 initiatives, and economic savings over AED 3.5 million.
Al Shamsi added that these results will drive the board to keep developing the award's programmes, categories and criteria, and to strengthen partnerships with various entities and institutions — opening wider avenues for individuals and organisations to take part in volunteer work and encouraging sustainable, high-quality initiatives that respond to community needs.
She said the board's fusion of expertise and experience marks a valuable addition to the award's journey, supporting its drive to keep developing its programmes and initiatives. The diversity of backgrounds among board members, she noted, will help broaden the exchange of ideas and perspectives and support decisions that advance the volunteering ecosystem and the award's objectives.
Al Shamsi said the coming phase will continue building on past achievements, strengthening the award's standing and its role in encouraging outstanding volunteering and highlighting inspiring examples of giving — in line with the vision of the Ruler of Sharjah to entrench volunteer work as a firmly rooted community value and an active part of the Emirate's development journey.
