“Sharjah Theatre Days” prepares for 36th edition

Sharjah 24: Ahmed Bourhaima, Director of the Theatre Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Director of Sharjah Theatre Days, chaired the first meeting of the event's Supreme Organising Committee on Wednesday morning at the Culture Palace, opening preparations for the 36th edition of the festival, which brings Emirati theatre troupes into competition alongside a programme of intellectual, critical and training-focused activities.

Praise for last year's participants

The meeting opened by acknowledging the efforts of theatre troupes, their management teams and creative talents during the previous edition, as well as the involvement of Arab artists and academics in the accompanying programme.

Dates confirmed for the new edition

Committee members also settled the schedule for the upcoming edition. The festival will run from Wednesday 17 March through to Wednesday 24 March.

Submissions open today

Registered theatre troupes can submit their participation files from today, with the deadline for applications set at 30 November.

Sharjah Theatre Days was established in 1984. Alongside the official competition for stage productions, the festival features a set of accompanying activities, including the Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity, the Honoured Local Personality Award, the Intellectual Forum, and the Sharjah Forum for Arab Theatre Pioneers, in addition to a range of further events.
