The event was attended by poet Mohammed Abdullah Al-Breiki, director of the House, as well as a large audience of critics, poets and poetry enthusiasts.
The evening was presented by Yasmin Al-Turk, who said in her opening remarks: “Welcome, distinguished guests of the Poetry House, to an evening in which our gathering is renewed. We begin by extending our highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.”
Mahdali Aarji opened the readings with verses that flowed on the strings of the heart, expressing his admiration for Sharjah. He then presented a selection of emotive poems that intertwined reality with the self. His work was characterised by accessible, heartfelt language and rhythms that resonated with the audience.
He was followed by Amara Wlari, who presented poems covering a range of themes in language marked by eloquence and authenticity.
Dr Maram Al-Nasr then delivered a series of emotive poems drawing on the struggles of the self and its interaction with society, homeland and love.
Dr Muntazar Al-Mousawi concluded the readings with poems distinguished by depth of meaning, sincerity of emotion and a philosophical tone imbued with wisdom.
At the end of the evening, poet Mohammed Al-Breiki honoured the participating poets and the evening’s presenter.
