Sharjah 24 – AFP: Tadej Pogacar moved to the brink of a record-equalling fifth Tour de France title after safely negotiating Saturday’s penultimate stage, while Ecuador’s Richard Carapaz claimed victory on the grueling Queen Stage and secured the King of the Mountains jersey.

Pogacar, who is set to seal the overall title on Sunday’s final stage in Paris, finished fourth alongside teammate Isaac Del Toro, helping the Mexican secure third place overall and the best young rider’s white jersey.

Dramatic finish on the Queen Stage

Carapaz captured his second stage win in three days after Sepp Kuss crashed twice during the final descent, ending the American’s hopes of victory. Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel finished second on the stage and remains second overall, with Pogacar holding a commanding lead of 6 minutes and 26 seconds.
