Sharjah Sports Council marks World Running and Cycling Days

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) organised two running and cycling races on June 6th and 7th in the Aljada area to celebrate World Sports Days. The events, held in an enthusiastic atmosphere, brought together people of all ages and nationalities, with strong participation that boosted community engagement and competitive spirit.

3,000 participants take part in Aljada events

With a participation of 3,000 people, the Sharjah Sports Council organised two running and cycling races on Saturday and Sunday, June 6th and 7th, in the Aljada area of Sharjah, marking World Sports Days and achieving wide success due to strong turnout from diverse age groups and nationalities.

Race formats and official attendance

The running race lasted for an hour and a half, while the cycling race covered a distance of 21 kilometers. The events were attended by Bakheet Saeed Al-Qars, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department, and Yousef Al-Hosani, Head of the Sports Events Organisation and Management Section.

Council highlights community success

Bakhit Al-Qars expressed his delight at the success of the two events, emphasizing that the council is committed to holding them annually due to the popularity of running and cycling races among Sharjah's citizens and residents.

Popularity of running and cycling in Sharjah

Al-Qars explained that these two types of races are the most popular and well-attended in the emirate's community, thanks to the availability of dedicated tracks in most parks and public spaces. He extended his gratitude to all the entities that collaborated with the council in organizing the events, affirming that they were partners in this success, including Arada, Sharjah TV, Sharjah Sports Channel, Sharjah Police, and Bee'ah.
