Yousef Hassan Al Hosani revealed that the World Bicycle Day event began at Aljada in Sharjah, with 1,400 male and female cyclists participating. The event took place in a vibrant sporting atmosphere that reflected the growing popularity of cycling and the enthusiasm of different segments of society to take part in community sports activities.
In statements to Sharjah 24, Al Hosani explained that the ride began in central Aljada, followed a 20-kilometre route through University City, and then returned to the starting point. He added that organising such events is part of the Sharjah Sports Council’s efforts to promote sports culture and encourage people to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.
Al Hosani stated that the event attracted 1,400 participants from a wide range of nationalities and age groups, including citizens and residents from different sections of society. He added that the strong turnout reflects the spread of sports culture in Sharjah and growing awareness of the importance of physical activity for maintaining health and fitness.
The Head of Sports Events Planning and Management at the Sharjah Sports Council highlighted the council’s commitment to organising high-quality events that strengthen community participation and reinforce Sharjah’s position as a city that supports sport, health and quality of life, through initiatives and programmes targeting diverse sporting groups.
