Sharjah social care committee reviews ways to enhance efficiency

Sharjah24: The Permanent Committee for Individuals Without Social Care held its first meeting on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at the headquarters of the Sharjah Social Services Department, chaired by Judge Dr Omar Obaid Al Ghoul, following a decision by the Sharjah Executive Council to reconstitute the committee. The move reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to establish an integrated social welfare system and safeguard the rights of the most vulnerable groups.

The committee comprises Major General Omar Ahmed Buzoud, Vice Chairman; Maryam Majid Saeed Al Shamsi; Sheikha Moudi bint Mohammed Al Shamsi; Sulaiman Khamis Al Naqbi; Counsellor Abdulrahman Dawood Al Awadhi; Dr Abdullah Suleiman Al Kabouri; Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarooni; and Colonel Thani Ahmed Thani Al Suwaidi. Ali Mohammed Al Ali serves as the committee's rapporteur.

During the meeting, members reviewed the committee's responsibilities as set out in the Social Welfare Law and the decision establishing the committee. They also discussed mechanisms for carrying out its work and coordination plans among member entities to ensure prompt case assessment and timely decision-making through unified procedures that enhance operational efficiency and guarantee the provision of care and protection, thereby strengthening the social welfare system and serving the best interests of beneficiaries.
