Sharjah 24: The Brazilian national team thrashed their Panamanian guests 6-2 in a friendly match at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the five-time world champions' preparations for the World Cup finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Brazilian national team, without their injured star Neymar, crushed their Panamanian guests 6-2 in a friendly match at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the five-time world champions' preparations for the World Cup finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

79 goals

Neymar is suffering from a calf injury, and his participation in Brazil's opening World Cup match against Morocco on June 13 in New Jersey is in doubt.

The Brazilian national team's all-time leading scorer (79 goals) watched the match at the Maracanã Stadium on Sunday, to the cheers of the crowd, especially during the warm-up when he joined his teammates on the field.

Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior quickly gave the home side the lead in the first minute after the referee's whistle, following a pass from captain Casemiro and firing a shot from about 23 metres into the net.

The Brazilian net was then rattled by an own goal after a free kick taken by Mickael Murillo deflected off winger Matheus Cunha and deceived goalkeeper Alisson (13').

Vinícius and Casemiro restored the lead for the Yellow Submarine, with the former Manchester United midfielder scoring a header in the 38th minute.

3 goals in 10 minutes

After the break, Brazil's Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti, made changes, replacing his entire starting lineup except for Leo Pereira at the start of the second half.

The Brazilians continued their relentless pressure on the modest Panamanian side, adding three goals in 10 minutes. The young Ryan opened the scoring after the 19-year-old, who plays for Bournemouth in England, capitalized on a poor pass from Panamanian goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera on the right wing, calmly slotting the ball into the empty net to the delight of the Maracanã crowd (52').

Lucas Paquetá scored the fourth with a shot from the edge of the penalty area (59'), and Igor Thiago increased Brazil's lead after Mosquera fouled him inside the box, resulting in a penalty which he converted successfully (62').

Botafogo midfielder Danilo completed the scoring for Brazil after receiving Paquetá's cross inside the penalty area, then dribbling past the Panamanian defence and firing the ball into the net (80').

Panama pulled one back late in the 83rd minute when Carlos Harvey unleashed a powerful shot from 27 metres.

Brazil will play their final friendly against Egypt in Cleveland, Ohio next Saturday, before beginning their Group C World Cup campaign against Morocco, then Haiti and Scotland.
