The purchase was made as part of the generous grant of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, allocated to institutions and entities, while also supporting the club’s aim to expand its cultural collection and offer diverse knowledge resources that serve all segments of the community.
The new titles cover a wide range of significant subjects. They include 10 works by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, among them the latest publications, most notably the five-volume encyclopaedic work History of the Qawasim.
The list also features seven books by authors from the central region, including Said Hamdan, Dr Rashid Al Mazrouei, and Khalifa Saif Hamed Al Tuniji. It additionally includes six titles on sport and fitness, 12 books on management, excellence, and artificial intelligence, 16 titles for children and young readers, and 11 books on local heritage, containing folktales and poetry collections such as the Diwan of poet Salem Al Jumri.
This initiative aligns with the club’s vision to promote culture and reading within the community, and to provide a rich knowledge library that contributes to building an aware and educated generation, capable of utilising knowledge in the service of the nation.
On this occasion, Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, extended his highest thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unwavering support for culture and knowledge, and for his invaluable grant providing generous backing to institutional libraries to acquire a wide range of titles available across the pavilions of the 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair.
He affirmed that the cultural momentum witnessed in the emirate today is the result of His Highness’s exceptional vision and pioneering initiatives that prioritise human development and the building of awareness.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Sharjah Book Authority for facilitating the club’s participation, offering an ideal environment for meeting publishers and creators, acquiring the latest releases, and continuing to provide resources and support that enable institutional libraries to carry out their book acquisition efforts.
For his part, Khalifa Mubarak Dalmooq Al Ketbi, Board Member and Chair of the Cultural and Community Committee, stated that the selection of titles followed a methodology that strengthens the club’s cultural role and serves a wide audience, particularly youth, children, athletes, and families.
He added that the focus on works by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and authors from the central region reflects the club’s commitment to documenting local identity and supporting creators, while titles on management and artificial intelligence meet readers’ need to keep pace with future requirements and modern knowledge.
