Sharjah 24: As part of its programmes aimed at developing cultural awareness and strengthening the club's community role, Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, represented by its Cultural and Community Development Committee, organised a visit to the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2025). A number of the club's players, administrators, and members participated in the visit, which included tours of several exhibition pavilions and local, Arab, and international publishing houses, as well as attendance at a range of events and activities held at the current edition of the fair.

Integrating sports and cultural activities

Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Club, affirmed that organising this visit stems from the club's commitment to integrating sports and cultural activities, and its belief in the importance of culture as a fundamental pillar in building well-rounded young people. He pointed out that this initiative aligns with the UAE's vision of making culture and reading a way of life, and is consistent with the declaration of 2025 as the "Year of the Community," reflecting the leadership's commitment to consolidating positive societal values and strengthening national identity.

Bin Howaiden added that the participation of club members in such national cultural events contributes to broadening their horizons and developing their intellectual skills, in addition to strengthening their sense of belonging and citizenship through direct interaction with events that highlight Sharjah's status as a capital of culture and knowledge.

Reinforcing reading values

For his part, Khalifa bin Dalmouk Al Ketbi, Board Member and Chairman of the Cultural and Community Development Committee, explained that SIBF 2025 is a global cultural event that attracts diverse segments of society. He added that the committee is keen to organise an annual visit to the fair as part of its cultural agenda, with the aim of enabling players and administrators to explore the latest intellectual, scientific, and literary publications, thereby reinforcing their values of reading, lifelong learning, and openness to knowledge.

The visit concluded with the club's management expressing its gratitude to the Sharjah Book Authority for its ongoing efforts in organising this global event, which has become an inspiring platform for knowledge, bringing together creators, publishers, and readers from around the world under the umbrella of culture and creativity.
