The meeting, chaired by His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi of Al Hamriyah Municipality and attended by His Excellency Salem Mohammed Almehrzi of the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority and several officials, supported Sharjah’s sustainability goals. It highlighted the fishing industry as vital for the economy, environment, food security, and marine ecosystems, demonstrating the emirate’s commitment to growth that balances economic progress with environmental and cultural preservation.
Discussions focused on developmental initiatives and practical proposals aimed at advancing the fishing sector in Al Hamriyah, improving services for fishermen, and ensuring that fishing facilities are safe, organised, and sustainable.
Participants highlighted the importance of coordination and integration among relevant entities to deliver high-quality services, promote marine resource sustainability, and support the region’s fishermen in line with best environmental and regulatory practices. They also emphasised the cultural and economic value of fishing as a national heritage profession, deeply rooted in Hamriyah’s maritime identity and traditions.
His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi stated that the meeting reflects the Municipality’s dedication to institutional partnerships and collaborative efforts to develop the fishing industry, in line with Sharjah’s environmental and economic sustainability goals.
Al Hamriyah Municipality emphasises the importance of meeting fishermen's needs and consistently improving fishing facilities in collaboration with the Fishermen’s Association and the Sharjah Fish Resources Authority.
He mentioned that these collaborative efforts aim to empower local fishermen, enhance their working conditions, and protect fishing as a vital part of Hamriyah’s maritime and cultural heritage.
