Sharjah 24: Sheikha Saif Al Suwaidi, Head of the Family Information Department at the Sharjah Family Development, announced, on Wednesday, the results of the field study conducted by the Sharjah Family Development under the title “The Impact of Work on the Quality of Life of Sharjah Government Employees”, which included 1,350 employees across all job grades.

High satisfaction with 4-day work week

Sheikha Saif Al Suwaidi revealed, on Wednesday, that 94% of Sharjah government employees were satisfied with the change to a four-day work week. The study, launched by the Sharjah Family Development, aimed to understand the relationship between professional life and family stability, analysing the impact of the new “4-day work week” system on employees’ happiness and quality of life both inside and outside the family.

Study scope and focus

Al Suwaidi added, in statements to “Sharjah 24,” that the study was part of the third series of the Human Pattern Studies in Sharjah. It targeted 1,350 Emirati employees in the Sharjah government, both male and female, across all job grades, and focused on two main areas: family life quality and work life quality.

Key findings and recommendations

The study’s results highlighted strong family bonds, positive relationships, and good communication, reflecting a high level of family life quality. Employees also expressed high satisfaction with their work environment and relationships with colleagues. The study recommended enhancing social and family support programmes, particularly for new employees, field staff, and women, to help them achieve a better balance between their family and professional lives.
