Sheikha Saif Al Suwaidi revealed, on Wednesday, that 94% of Sharjah government employees were satisfied with the change to a four-day work week. The study, launched by the Sharjah Family Development, aimed to understand the relationship between professional life and family stability, analysing the impact of the new “4-day work week” system on employees’ happiness and quality of life both inside and outside the family.
Al Suwaidi added, in statements to “Sharjah 24,” that the study was part of the third series of the Human Pattern Studies in Sharjah. It targeted 1,350 Emirati employees in the Sharjah government, both male and female, across all job grades, and focused on two main areas: family life quality and work life quality.
The study’s results highlighted strong family bonds, positive relationships, and good communication, reflecting a high level of family life quality. Employees also expressed high satisfaction with their work environment and relationships with colleagues. The study recommended enhancing social and family support programmes, particularly for new employees, field staff, and women, to help them achieve a better balance between their family and professional lives.
