4th Sharjah Ruler’s Camel Racing Festival kicks off on 10th Nov.

Sharjah 24: Under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the fourth edition of the Sharjah Ruler’s Festival for Purebred Arabian Camel Races will take place from 10th to 14th November. The event is organised by the Sharjah Camel Racing Club at Al Dhaid racetrack.

A prominent heritage and sporting event

The festival is considered one of the UAE’s most prominent heritage and sporting events, blending the richness of authentic tradition with a vibrant contemporary spirit. It brings together a distinguished group of camel owners from across the Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, competing in 126 races over five consecutive days. The races include all categories: Al-Haqa’iq, Al-Luqaya, Al-Idha’, Al-Thunaya, Al-Houl, and Al-Zumoul, in both morning and evening sessions, including 10 prestigious symbol races.

Organisers express gratitude to the leadership

His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed Maadad bin Huweidan Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, expressed sincere thanks and deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, for their generous and continuous support of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, camel owners, and heritage enthusiasts, as well as their gracious patronage of this festival, now held for the fourth consecutive year at Al Dhaid Camel Racing Track.

Participation and competition

Al Ketbi confirmed that the festival would see large participation from camel owners across the UAE and GCC countries, competing in 126 races spread over five consecutive days.

Pride in the festival’s progress

Khalid Matar Al Teneiji, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, expressed pride in the remarkable development of camel racing in Sharjah in terms of organisation and participation. He said: “The Sharjah Ruler’s Festival has become an annual highlight eagerly awaited by all, carrying authentic heritage values and cultural messages that reflect the wise leadership’s interest in preserving the legacy of our forefathers. At the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, we are keen to provide the best facilities and services for participants and the public, befitting the festival’s stature and the Emirate of Sharjah.”
