The MoU was signed by Dr Aisha Abu Shlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Al Dhaid, and Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA). The agreement covers knowledge and expertise exchange, professional development programmes for authority staff, and field training opportunities for university students to equip them with practical skills for the job market.
The partnership focuses on building a joint strategic research agenda, utilising both parties’ educational infrastructure and laboratories, and active participation in scientific events and conferences.
Professor Aisha Shlaibi stressed that the MoU represents an important step in strengthening ties between higher education institutions and government bodies in Sharjah. She highlighted its role in providing advanced learning and training opportunities for students, preparing a qualified generation to face future challenges and contribute effectively to community development.
She added that the university seeks to achieve meaningful integration between academic research and field application, enhancing the professional efficiency of staff in the environment and conservation sector, in line with Sharjah’s vision of sustainable development.
