Sharjah 24: Maryam Saif Makhlouf, a member of the organising committee of the Kalba Short Play Festival, announced that the 12th edition will present 14 carefully selected theatrical shows competing for the festival’s awards. In addition to the main performances, the festival will include several accompanying events, most notably the Intellectual Forum and the 11th Sharjah Forum for Theatrical Research, bringing together academics and researchers.

Press conference held to reveal festival details

The Department of Culture held a press conference at the Sharjah Cultural Palace to unveil the full details of the upcoming Kalba Short Play Festival.

Celebration of theatrical art and creativity

Maryam Saif Makhlouf emphasized that the festival represents a renewed celebration of theatrical aesthetics, with 14 competing shows staged in an environment rich in artistic energy, vitality, and creativity.

Forums to enrich the festival programme

She added that the festival’s program is packed with activities, including the Intellectual Forum titled "The Role of Short Plays in Developing Directing Skills", as well as the 11th Sharjah Forum for Theatrical Research, which gathers leading academics and experts in the field of theatre.

Special ceremonies and honouring of a veteran artist

Makhlouf noted that the festival will offer special opening and closing ceremonies at the Kalba Cultural Center, while the Kalba Society for Folk Arts and Theatre will host various performances in an interactive, creative setting. The festival will also honor veteran artist Abdul Hamid Al Balushi in recognition of his distinguished theatrical career.
