Sharjah 24: Al Sharqiya from Kalba channel has launched a set of new programmes this September, covering cultural, social, and entertainment themes. The initiative aligns with Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s strategy to produce diverse, comprehensive media content that meets the needs of the community.

Reviving history and heritage

The documentary programme Sir Al Awwaleen highlights the lives and achievements of historical figures from the Eastern Region. It airs on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 20:45. Complementing this, Memories invites three elderly women each week to share personal recollections and heritage stories, broadcast on Wednesdays at 18:00.

Celebrating the sea and traditions

Our Catch Today documents fishing traditions on the Eastern coast, airing Saturdays at 19:00, while Depths of the Sea, filmed entirely underwater in Sharjah’s Eastern Region, explores marine life and coral reefs every Tuesday at 19:30.

Arts, youth, and community focus

School of Calligraphy spotlights Arabic calligraphy, presented by Barout Othman every Wednesday at 19:30. Youth Corners, a talk show with students and graduates from local universities, airs Tuesdays at 19:00, hosted by Omar Ahmed.

Social awareness and spirituality

The programme We Are All Responsible raises awareness on disability and developmental delay, presented by Amina Al Zaabi on Saturdays at 18:15. Meanwhile, Words from the Quran explains and interprets Quranic terms from Monday to Thursday at 13:15.

A vision for meaningful media

Ismail Issa Al Hosani, Director of Al Sharqiya from Kalba, affirmed that programmes such as Depths of the Sea and Our Catch Today highlight the region’s rich marine resources, while Sir Al Awwaleen and Memories connect younger generations to their cultural heritage. He added: “We aim to deliver content that combines benefit and enjoyment, reflecting the history, heritage, and unique environment of the Eastern Region.”
