Sharjah 24: A delegation from the House of Wisdom (HoW), led by Executive Director Marwa Al Aqroubi, visited Qatar to explore collaboration and knowledge exchange with major cultural institutions. The visit supports HoW’s mission to drive regional cultural initiatives and aligns with Sharjah’s broader vision of global openness and cultural leadership.

Key Institutions Visited

The HoW delegation engaged with leading Qatari institutions, including Museum of Islamic Art, Qatar National Library, and M7, Qatar’s centre for design, fashion, and technology innovation.

These visits aimed to build joint cultural programmes and share best practices in managing museums, libraries, and community-focused projects.

A strategic vision for cultural collaboration

Commenting on the visit, Marwa Al Aqroubi emphasized the importance of culture in fostering international understanding and sustainable development.

“This visit to Qatar reinforces our commitment to fostering Arab collaboration in the fields of knowledge and the arts,” she said.

She added that such partnerships are long-term investments in creative and human capital and essential to positioning the region as a vital part of the global cultural landscape.

Spotlight on the Museum of Islamic Art

During their tour of the Museum of Islamic Art, the delegation explored a collection spanning 13 centuries. The museum houses rare manuscripts, ceramics, textiles, and jewellery from across the Islamic world, celebrating Islamic art as both a timeless aesthetic and a symbol of civilisational unity.

Visit to Qatar National Library

At the Qatar National Library, the delegation learned about the institution’s role in preserving Qatari and Arab heritage while supporting academic research and public education. With over a million books and a vast array of digital resources, the library exemplifies the power of inclusive, community-driven knowledge access in the digital era.

Artistic dialogue through 'Fables in Fashion'

The delegation also visited the 'Fables in Fashion' exhibition, organised by the Qatar Reads initiative under the Qatar National Library. Featuring work from over 30 international and Qatari artists, the exhibition draws inspiration from Maqamat Al-Hariri, merging narrative and visual storytelling to create a rich cultural experience.

Strengthening regional and global cultural ties

These high-level engagements highlight the House of Wisdom’s dedication to adopting global best practices and forging partnerships with renowned institutions. They also reinforce HoW’s position as a leading cultural hub in Sharjah and the UAE, and its role in shaping the libraries and cultural institutions of the future.
