Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) received a delegation from the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA) to explore avenues of cooperation and coordination between the two entities.

His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the SEDD and Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, welcomed the delegation in the presence of several department officials.

The visiting delegation was led by His Excellency Rashid Al Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association, along with accompanying members.

Enhancing collaboration to support publishing and cultural content

The meeting aimed to identify joint initiatives that would support the publishing industry and contribute to the development of the cultural and knowledge content sector. His Excellency Hamad Al Mahmoud emphasised the importance of such meetings, which serve as platforms for boosting cooperation and expediting development. He reiterated SEDD’s commitment to encouraging economic investment and supporting self-employment within Sharjah.

Business-friendly environment and streamlined services

Al Mahmoud highlighted that all business setup procedures in Sharjah are designed to attract investors, supported by the emirate’s robust infrastructure, services, and inter-agency cooperation. He noted that SEDD has succeeded in significantly reducing the time required for licensing and other transactions through the implementation of service development measures aligned with international quality standards.

Exchange of ideas and review of operational strategies

During the meeting, both parties discussed several shared topics of interest, exchanging views on procedures, policies, and strategies that impact their respective sectors. The EPA delegation was also briefed on SEDD’s operational structure, service model, and the latest technologies adopted to streamline workflows. Discussions revolved around enhancing joint action and reinforcing channels of communication.

His Excellency commended the ongoing dialogue between the two institutions and their collective efforts in serving the emirate.
