This workshop is part of a broader series of periodic training programmes designed to build the capabilities of SEDD’s human resources. It aimed to equip officers with legal and procedural knowledge related to beneficial ownership disclosures in accordance with federal laws and regulations governing the field.
The workshop emphasised the importance of complying with UAE laws on anti-money laundering through greater awareness of beneficial ownership violations. It outlined the legal and regulatory frameworks in place and provided commercial officers with the tools to understand their responsibilities in monitoring and ensuring business compliance.
Participants received detailed explanations of the most relevant laws and procedures concerning beneficial ownership, along with strategies for implementation across economic establishments. The workshop also highlighted the role of commercial officers in inspecting companies and ensuring transparency in corporate structures, thus helping to safeguard the business environment.
Hamad Omar Al Midfa, Director of the Legal Affairs Department at SEDD, highlighted that the workshop reflects the department’s commitment to legislative development and transparency. He noted that such initiatives help position Sharjah as a competitive, safe, and sustainable economic hub attractive to investors.
Al Midfa added that SEDD is dedicated to improving the investment climate and supporting business continuity by enhancing its services in cooperation with local and federal entities. These training programmes, he said, play a vital role in developing the skills of the department’s workforce and in reinforcing the integrity and sustainability of the emirate’s economic sector.
