The workshop was organised through fruitful cooperation between APC and the Child Safety Foundation, affiliated with the Sharjah Family and Community Council. The workshop was presented by the esteemed academic researcher, Dr Ibrahim Al-Dabal, aiming to highlight the pivotal role of parents in preserving the family unit and meeting its basic and psychological needs. It focused on finding a practical answer to the fundamental question: "How can I improve my relationship with my family?" and how sons and daughters can be a positive driving force within their family environment.
The workshop saw remarkable interaction and high-level discussions. Dr Al-Dabal reviewed the positive role of the family in shaping a child's personality, emphasising that a sense of security and safety is the foundation upon which children's abilities are built.
Dr Al-Dabal also provided comprehensive explanations and real-life examples highlighting the family's esteemed position in society.
For their part, APC members demonstrated significant intellectual engagement, readily sharing their opinions and discussing their unique family experiences with remarkable awareness and maturity. This reflected the exceptional level of understanding these young parliamentarians possess regarding their life and social issues, and their commitment to strengthening family relationships and ensuring children's continued safety within their families.
Regarding this workshop and its importance within the fourth session, His Excellency Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC, stated: "The selection of this workshop's topic, in cooperation with our partners at the Child Safety Foundation, stems from our firm belief that the family is the primary nurturing environment and the cornerstone for building the awareness and identity of the Arab child." The mature and insightful engagement we witnessed today from the members, and their courageous and responsible sharing of their personal experiences, proves that our children are capable of making a real contribution to strengthening the cohesion and stability of their families.
Al Barout added: “We at the General Secretariat of the Parliament are committed to equipping members with the tools and skills that will enable them to convey these positive concepts to their peers throughout the Arab world. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Emirate of Sharjah and its partner institutions for their continued support in empowering Arab children.”
