SCC cmte, DSCD discuss ways to support family policies

Sharjah 24: The Family Affairs Committee from the Sharjah Consultative Council visited the Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development on Wednesday, led by Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, the Committee Chairman. They were welcomed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development, and Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of DSCD.

During the visit, the Committee discussed the department's work to support family-related policies and its role in community development. This meeting is part of their ongoing effort to ensure that the department's activities match the needs and expectations of the community in Sharjah, in line with guidance from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. His highness the Ruler has emphasized the importance of fostering family stability and creating a strong social framework.

The meeting highlighted how the Department provides vital data to help leaders make informed decisions that align with development plans and reflect the community's demographic, social, and economic situation. Sheikh Mohammed shared that the department has built its operations on a comprehensive approach that combines data collection and community development, following international standards to ensure accurate information.

Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji spoke about the importance of this visit in improving collaboration between the Committee and the department. He emphasized their shared goal of addressing social challenges effectively. He appreciated the department's ongoing efforts to gather and analyze data relevant to family issues, such as population studies, housing policies, and education and health programs.

During the discussions, committee members raised various topics, including how to share data between the department and other government agencies, protecting personal information, and enhancing job seeker indicators. They also talked about the private sector's role in supporting national talent and improving coordination with the Sharjah Department of Human Resources. Future proposals included expanding the department’s services in different areas and developing a unified data platform.

The Committee also looked into the DSCD's work on citizen studies aimed at improving family and development policies. The visit concluded with both sides agreeing on the importance of ongoing meetings and sharing expertise, highlighting their commitment to building a strong, sustainable, and knowledge-driven community.
