The meeting was held, on Wednesday, at the Council's headquarters, as part of the second regular session of the eleventh legislative term.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Hanawi Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Committee, and attended by committee members: His Excellency Dr. Sultan Khamis Al Zaabi, Committee Rapporteur; His Excellency Ibrahim Mohammed Al Mansouri; His Excellency Sultan Ali Al Masafri; His Excellency Obaid Ahmed Khasaw Al Naqbi; His Excellency Mohammed Ali bin Salim Al Ketbi; and His Excellency Issa Abdullah Al Kalbani.
A number of Council members who attended the discussion session also participated in the meeting, including His Excellency Obaid Ishaq Al Mazmi; Saif bin Suwaif Al Ketbi, Committee Secretary; and Dr. Islam Al Shiwi, Council Media Expert.
Developing SEDD economic services
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the general themes upon which its final recommendations will be based. Discussions focused on the importance of developing the economic services provided by the department, activating economic oversight tools, expanding community awareness of the department's efforts, stimulating the local investment environment, and improving the efficiency of services provided to project owners and entrepreneurs.
Enhancing cooperation between SEDD and relevant economic entities
Members also discussed enhancing cooperation between the department and relevant economic entities, with the aim of achieving integration that contributes to supporting sustainable economic development in the Emirate of Sharjah.
His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Hanawi Al Naqbi emphasised that the committee's recommendations are based on the opinions and observations as well as the in-depth discussions that took place during the meeting. He noted the committee's keenness to incorporate the various viewpoints expressed by members during the general session.
Supporting Sharjah’s economic ecosystem
Al Naqbi added that the upcoming recommendations will focus on ways to improve the services of the Department of Economic Development and enhance its efficiency in supporting the emirate's economic ecosystem, in line with the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to support economic growth and enhance the business environment.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to finalise the draft recommendations based on the topics discussed, in preparation for their presentation to SCC during the next session for formal approval. This will contribute to enhancing the quality of economic services and fulfilling the aspirations of the emirate's business community.
