Sharjah 24: University Hospital Sharjah recently hosted the Sharjah 2025 Cardiac and Oncology Workshop, featuring leading specialists from the Royal Brompton Hospital—one of the world’s top cardiology and oncology institutions—alongside experts from University Hospital Sharjah.

High-level participation and visionary leadership
The event brought together academics, physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the UAE and abroad. It was chaired by His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University Hospital Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority. In his keynote, he highlighted the value of the collaboration initiated by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, who laid the foundation stone for a Virtual Cardiac and Oncology Centre of Excellence at Royal Brompton Hospital in London in October 2024.

Driving innovation in cardio-oncology
Dr Khalifa Al Nuaimi, CEO and Board Member of University Hospital Sharjah, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership in elevating healthcare outcomes—especially in advancing cardiovascular care for cancer patients and reducing treatment side effects through cutting-edge therapies.

Expert insights from international specialists
The workshop featured Dr Alexander Lyon, Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Cardio-Oncology Centre at Royal Brompton Hospital, who shared his extensive knowledge and experience with attendees, enhancing the educational value of the event.

Serving as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, the workshop underscored University Hospital Sharjah’s ongoing commitment to international cooperation and the delivery of advanced, patient-centered healthcare services.
